Pages for Burberry, Angry Birds and Chelsea FC went live last night (November 7th) while other brands are currently setting theirs up.

Users of the social network, which now amounts to over 40 million, will be able to add brands to their circles and recommend them to friends.

Bradley Horowitz, vice-president of product for Google+, told the Daily Telegraph: "Google+ is a very different social network to Facebook and Twitter.

Unique features such as hangouts and Google Circles, a deep integration with YouTube [which Google owns] and rich photos make it an attractive proposition for companies."

He added that brand pages are a good way for companies to engage with consumers as they will be able to use the video chat tool to talk with a group of people.

Brand pages will also be included in Google search results, from where they can be added to a user's circles.

The social network saw over 20 million people set up an account within the first three weeks of its launch in June.
