I'll give you a bit of background about what we will do here, the people behind it, the reason for creating it, and where we'd like to take SocialBusinessToday.net
Why?
Well, we (and i'll get on to who we are in a bit) have been working in the 'Social Media' space for a few years and have been along to all the events on engagement, ROE, building a strategy etc and have come to the final conclusion that, Social Media needed a new name. More than that, it needed an injection of facts that businesses need to get their presence into social networks and platforms online.
Not really any short answers here - but we want to take the 'fluffy media' out of social, and create a blog dedicated to businesses using social platforms, what works, tools to use, changing technology, news and more.
We just think Social Business is the future, and we're here to prove it.
Who?
Jason Barrett - Created, built and marketed TwitJobs in one weekend - now the largest social job site in the world. We continue to innovate and create new ways for people to find work. The job market has changed, so has the way people absorb content.
I'm the kind of person who gets on with things, likes to be spontaneous and create valuable resources on the net.
I'm hoping SocialBusinessToday can provide valuable insight into businesses social activities and ultimately help businesses make less mistakes. Mistakes, that people have made working in this industry for years, not weeks. We've also been successful too! - but I'll get on to that later too.
I'm also incredibly passionate about social - for mobile, personal, for good causes, for insight and business. On top of all this I also work as a social media consultant, helping agencies and businesses progress campaigns and promotions to connect with consumers and gel with their current digital and marketing strategies.
Where?
I'm based in London. :)
What Now?
Social Business Today isn't about copying and pasting content from Mashable and TechCrunch (which you should be reading anyway) its about informative how to guides, things we've done and learnt from, things you should be doing, things you shouldn't and information and advice to support you through the social web.
Social is all about the web, Facebook and Twitter (and google) are creating a more enriched, social experiences across all of the internet, and we love that.
